Nigerian Army has warned Nigerians to be wary of a fraudulent syndicate placing fake adverts on social media to deceive unsuspecting members of the public on alleged commissioning into the Nigerian Army.
The army raised the alarm in a statement sent toNEWSBREAK on Tuesday, by the Director, Army public Relations; Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman.
Acclrding to Isman: “The group specifically used Facebook and other social media platforms to entice interested persons and thereafter solicited for token payments into a certain bank account.
“The public is please requested to disregard such advertisements on the social media as the Nigerian Army is not recruiting at this moment,” the statement said.
The statement urged members of the public to report such fraudulent groups to the nearest security agency or contact the Nigerian Army Call Centre on 193 using any mobile network.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai on Tuesday, November 28, decorated 44 newly-promoted major-generals.
The event took place at the conference hall of the Nigerian Army Command Guest House in Maiduguri, Borno state.
In his speech at the event, General Buratai stated that the choice of the venue for the investiture is predicated on the need to boost the morale of troops in Operation Lafiya Dole and for the newly decorated officers to celebrate their elevation with the people of the northeast, “who enjoy normalcy today as a result of the fruit of your service.”
