Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, Chairman of Ido local government area, has urged residents of Araromi Idowu community to remain calm and not take laws into their hands, assuring that the kidnapped Baale will be released.
He gave this charge on Wednesday while addressing aggrieved members of the Community at the Ido Police Station, who were protesting the kidnapping of the community head Baale Tafa Apanpa.
Chief Apanpa was reported to have been abducted by unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in the early hours of Tuesday from his home.
The Chairman, speaking further, noted that he has opened discussions with all relevant security agencies in the state, to ensure that Baale Apapan and his wife are rescued from their abductors within a short time frame.
The Chairman, who had earlier spoken with three suspects who were apprehended by operatives of the Vigilante Group ( HVGN) and handed over to the police, appealed to leaders and members of the community to remain calm as necessary machineries have been put in place to make sure the abducted Baale and his wife are rescued and the abductors brought to book.
Hon Adeojo also enjoined residents of Ido local government, youths and community leaders to be vigilant and also speak up whenever they see strange faces around their neighbourhood, stressing that security is everybody’s business.
He finally urged all to take advantage of the state government security number by calling 615 whenever there is an emergency or security challenges.
